Psychotherapy for Individual Adults

Psychotherapy for Individual Adults

I help people struggling with emotions (anxiety, depression, anger), relationships, trauma and complex trauma, and personality disorders (e.g., borderline personality disorder, avoidant personality disorder). I also help people struggling with emotion-based behaviour problems (e.g., sexual acting out, interpersonal aggression, self-harm, binge-eating or bulima).

I believe the most important element of psychotherapy is the relationship between the therapist and patient. I also believe that all psychological problems are understandable. I practice these beliefs through a therapeutic style that’s warm, engaging, validating, and based on research findings. I have advanced training in dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and psychodynamic psychotherapy. Both modalities have large bodies of literature demonstrating their effectiveness, and I usually draw on elements of both when helping people change. I also include mindfulness into much of the work I do.

I am registered with the BC crime victims assistance program; clients registered with this program have part of their therapy costs covered.
